Portland Town Hall Meeting. OpenOceans Global hosted a Town Hall meeting on Thursday, February 25, 2010, at the American Geophysical Union's Ocean Sciences meeting in Portland, Oregon. This conference is one of the largest international gatherings of ocean scientists with more than 4,000 in attendance. The discussion focused on how to aggregate and visualize ocean data and the role of the semantic web. The stellar group of panelists included: Steven Diggs from Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Zdenka Willis from NOAA's Integrated Ocean Observing System Program, Peter Wiebe from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and Peter Fox from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Thanks to all for participating!
Copenhagen Panel Discussion Online. Video of OpenOceans Global's co-hosted event, "Live from Copenhagen," is now available online. The event originated on December 17, 2009, from the HubCulture Pavilion in Copenhagen and at the same time at the University of San Diego's Kroc Center. The panel discussion featured California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's Climate Team (see below). USD has edited and merged video from both locations that can now be found online at Copenhagen Video.
